Most Urinary Tract Infections will clear up very well and quick, after they have been treated with antibiotics prescribed by your veterinarian. If you don’t get your cat to the vet in a fair amount of time, the infection can and most likely will ascend into the kidney and cause very serious problems.
It is all right to wait one day to call your veterinarian to see if it will pass. Most likely, it will not clear up on it’s own. If your cat is straining to urinate and nothing is coming out, this needs to be brought to your veterinarian’s attention immediately. A stone blocking the urethra could cause this. This is very common in male cats and requires emergency medical treatment.
