Cleaning up pet urine should not be considered one of the great mysteries of the modern age. Many of us have had to do urine cleanup work, but few of us have been completely successful. Fortunately the problem with standard pet urine cleanup is not so much about procedure as it is about the tools.

Most of us have moved beyond just trying to cleanup a pet urine stain with standard soap and water. This method just simply does not work, and that is why the market is flooded with urine removers of every size shape and method. The problem with most of these urine removers is that they are liquid based. When you add liquid to dried or crystallized urine you only allow it to spread and potentially seep deeper into the already stained surface.

At Planet Urine we have a better solution. We utilize a revolutionary urine remover called UrineOut Powder. UrineOut Powder is a dry powder that you apply to the urine stain after you have pre-sprayed the area with a mister. The UrineOut Powder literally soaks up the urine crystals so that when you vacuum up the UrineOut Powder the stain gets vacuumed up as well.

It is important to use a new vacuum bag when you perform the urine removal process. This will insure that you get the maximum suction from your machine and that you remove all of the urine from the surface. It is also vital that you correctly pinpoint the exact stain. If you can only smell the urine, you might consider using a black light to locate the stain for removal. If you have any questions at all, please let our staff here at Planet Urine help you out. Our 24 hour toll free number is 888-286-ODOR (6367).
The post How To Clean Pet Urine first appeared on Planet Urine.

The truth is that there really is no ‘trick’ per se to house training a dog. Dogs inherently want to please and be our ‘buddies’ and if you are consistent in your training, they will generally respond with consistently good behavior. With puppies the biggest ingredient to housebreaking success is good old fashioned patience.

Puppies are cute, and furry, and loveable, and simply prone to having accidents. They can’t help it. They have tiny bladders and they just don’t quite understand the rules of the household yet. Your job as a puppy owner is to help them out until they know what they are old enough to handle the responsibility themselves. The best way to communicate to a puppy that their behavior is good is through praise.

If you take your puppy outside often, chances are he will urinate and eliminate outside. This is your opportunity to let him know that he is doing his “business” in the right spot. You should always have his favorite treats on hand when you take him outside so that as soon as he has eliminated, you can reward him. Pretty soon he will associate positive results with eliminating outside.

The flip side to positive reinforcement is making sure that your puppy does not get confused and think that he should eliminate indoors. If he has an accident inside, there is no need to panic and frighten your puppy, but at the same time you should take care to clean the accident up so that he cannot smell his urine or feces indoors. If you have any questions about urine cleanup, or dog housebreaking in general please call our toll free hotline at 888-286-ODOR (6367).
The post House Training Dogs first appeared on Planet Urine.

Dog urine, while generally not considered as pervasive as cat urine, can still be a huge problem for dog owners. Dealing with housebreaking a puppy is hard enough, but if you ever had to deal with a full-grown dog who insists on urinating indoors, then you know well the stress of cleaning up dog urine. At Planet Urine, we understand your situation and have made it our business to help animal owners work through these problems.

The main things to remember when dealing with a persistent dog urination situation is that dog behavior is generally consistent. In other words, if your dog is urinating in your home consistently, then chances are there must be a stimulus that is causing his behavior. For instance, if you have recently moved into an older home and your previously housebroken dog starts urinating indoors, you might be facing a dog urine residue situation.

We sell a number of great dog urine cleanup kits here at Planet Urine each of which is sized according to the severity of the situation. For example, we have a “Basic Cleaning System” that is meant as a spot cleaning solution. This package is rated for a 200 square foot area, and it contains everything you need to clean up a small dog urine problem.

If you are facing a more serious dog urine problem, then we have larger kits available. We even have a “Bad Doggy Supreme” kit that can clean up to 900 square feet of room. This is a great package for those who need to clean up several rooms, and it even comes with a black light kit to help you pin point urine stains more effectively. We don’t stop at simply providing kits, however. We want to help our customers throughout the entire process and to that end we have 24 hour toll free hotline: 888-286-ODOR (6367).
The post Dog Urine first appeared on Planet Urine.

If you have any experience with dogs at all, then chances are you have had to clean up your fair share of dog pee. Simply put, accidents happen, and while they may be our best friends, dogs are just prone to urinating indoors at least sometime in their lives. There is no reason to fret about dog pee, however, if you make sure you are consistent with your dog pal and diligent about the cleanup process.

Dogs urinate indoors for a number of different reasons. Puppies of course are just learning the rules of the house, so until they are housebroken you can just expect accidents to occur. Some dogs, however, will still have accidents throughout their lives depending on their disposition.

Some dogs for example will pee as a submissive response. Perhaps if they are being scolded, or if they feel threatened. Some dogs will urinate as a response to fear “triggers” like the vacuum cleaner, or a thunderstorm. Whatever the reason, if your dog does pee in your home, you just have to make sure that you thoroughly clean up the urine so that there is not a repeat occurrence.

What starts out as an accident can end up reinforcing undesirable behavior. If a dog smells its urine in the household it will think that that is where he is supposed to urinate. At Planet Urine we have a number of multifaceted solutions to the “dog pee” situation. We have a team of experts on staff dedicated to helping good pet owners resolve their dog pee situation in the best possible way. We even have a 24 hour toll free hotline dedicated to answering any and all dog and cat behavior problems: 888-286-ODOR (6367).
The post Dog Pee first appeared on Planet Urine.

For puppy owners and those who are planning on making a puppy addition to their family, learning how to properly housebreak a puppy is of vital importance. Fortunately, if you are patient and above all consistent, housebreaking your puppy or dog should not be too difficult of a process. Let’s take a look at some of the basic steps.

First of all, it is very important that you offer your puppy consistent and frequent opportunities to do their business outdoors where you want them to. By taking your new friend outside right when they wake up, after they play, and after they eat, you will give them opportunities to eliminate outdoors. Puppies have small bladders, and this means that they have to go frequently, so you have to make sure they have plenty of opportunities to go where you want them to go.

There is no way to overemphasize the importance of positive reinforcement. Dogs respond immensely well to praise and treats. When your puppy eliminates where you want him to, follow up with praise, a treat, or some play time so that they associate the experience with positive rewards.

One important factor when housebreaking you dog is to make sure you clean up “accidents” effectively. Dogs, like cats, respond powerfully to smell, and if they smell their urine or feces in the home, there is a good chance they will think that inside the home is the proper “elimination location.” At Planet Urine we carry a number of great urine removal products including UrineOut Powder and No-P!

Before we start, here are some essential housetraining facts:

All dogs do best when kept to a routine schedule.

Dogs have to go potty when…

they wake up in the morning or after a nap

within 1/2 hour after eating

before they go to sleep

Now, let’s discuss what to do every single time you take her out for the next 30 days: First: Take her out to the area you want her to go. Second: Keep telling her, “Go pee, go pee”, etc., until she goes. Third: Don’t let her back in the house until she does all her business outside. You may have to allow her to go two or three time before you let her back inside.

Another option you have with her is crate training. Have you considered that? I’ve always found it easiest to crate train a dog that is having major problems with housebreaking, because the crate training method is focused on preventing accidents instead of waiting for accidents to happen. The goal is to make it easy for her to do the right thing in the first place. Crate training in this way is faster and more effective than punishing her for mistakes.

YOU play the most important part in the success or failure of this method, you must be patient, determined and reliable for it to work. This method works great with puppies to adult dogs. The crate training method also requires the use of a dog crate or at least, a small, confined area for her to stay in when she can’t be supervised. A crate isn’t cruel! It’s her own private room where she can rest and stay safe, secure and out of trouble.

First you should choose a crate only large enough for your dog to stand up, turn around, and lie down. If the crate is too large, your dog will soil one corner and rest comfortably in another, and you will not have success housebreaking. Most people buy a crate that is large enough for the adult dog that their puppy will grow into. For this reason you may have to block off the rear of the crate so it is the correct size for the puppy, which can be done simply by inserting a cardboard box of the right size in the back of the crate. Many dog prefer the security and privacy of plastic airline crates. Wire crates are good and they are cooler and you can place a blanket over it if needed. The crate should be located in a quiet area. Avoid high traffic areas like kitchens, hallways and doorways. Put it in your bedroom and they can also be secure in the same room with you at night. During the day you might want to move it into a corner of the living room.

Also, most of the time a big factor that is causing this behavior (especially a dog that does this after being let out) is because she is smelling the lingering “scents” in the areas she has previously soiled on and it keeps attracting her back. Unfortunately, the “enzyme treatment” methods of cleaning do not REMOVE the urine from deep in the areas. It’s imperative to remove ALL of the urine from these areas.

Our Planet Urine UrineOut Powder is specially formulated to act like a million little sponges. It is the exact same powder that our Professional Urine Stain Removers utilize when they go on a large scale stain removal job. Now you can use this powerful stain remover yourself on virtually any sized stain on virtually any surface. If you have any questions or simply want to know more about UrineOut, please call our 24 hour toll-free hotline at 888-286-ODOR (6367) and talk to one of our cat pee specialists.
The post Crate Training A Female Dog or Puppy first appeared on Planet Urine.

In theory at least, cleaning up cat urine should be a fairly simple task. As we all know, however, what is true in theory is not always true in practice. The typical scenario for a cat urine cleanup operation goes something like the following: you try to ‘wash out’ the cat urine with a soap or liquid pet stain remover, you let the area dry, and the stain reappears a couple of weeks later along with the odor.

This is a situation that is all too familiar with millions of pet owners across the globe. The problem is that cat urine in particular is a highly penetrating and downright stubborn substance. It can permeate hardwood floors and soak deep into carpet padding making it all but impossible to clean with conventional cleaners.

At Planet Urine we specialize in high tech state-of-the-art cat urine cleaning products and techniques. Our UrineOut stain removal powder is a powerful tool for completely eliminating a pet stain. Using UrineOut Powder to clean up a urine stain is a simple and straightforward process.

First you simply prepare the stain with a pre-spray that loosens up the stain causing crystals. Next you spread the UrineOut Powder over the stain area. You then brush the powder into the stain so that it can do its job and soak the stain up like a sponge. Finally you simply vacuum up the UrineOut Powder along with the stain crystals that it has soaked up. If anytime during your stain removal process you need some help or advice, feel free to call our toll free hotline at 888-286-6367.
The post Cleaning Cat Urine first appeared on Planet Urine.

When cats behave this way, I know how frustrating it can be! Let’s first take a look at some simple solutions to help you with this. Usually when this just randomly starts, it’s because of a medical problem. So, they won’t go “poop”, or defecate in the litter box. Sounds to me like you need to have your Veterinarian run tests for a medical colon tract infection. This can cause pain to a cat when they defecate. Then they associate the pain with the litter box, and avoid using it. Then they go around finding places where they can ‘poop’ or defecate, without the pain. It’s a major problem for them.

Overview: Colitis is an inflammation or irritation of the colon or large intestine and, you guessed it: it commonly causes diarrhea in our furry friends. Signs: Colitis can be acute (meaning it comes on suddenly) or chronic (lasting several days to weeks, or recurring). There are several potential causes of colitis.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Cats look for the cleanest place they can find to defecate. If they even smell an odor in their litter box, especially another cat’s, they will go to the opposite end to find a clean area. It may be a simple matter of just looking for a clean area.

Did you know that the plastic in a litter box actually absorbs the fecal odors into the plastic? This can cause a cat to avoid using the litter box. No matter how hard you try to clean it, you can never remove all of the “scents” that will linger in the litter box. Cats are very sensitive to this. It is HIGHLY recommended that you REPLACE the litter box with a BRAND NEW litter box. Most Vets recommend replacing it every 4 – 6 months. People we have shared this information with are surprised at how well it has worked to get a cat using the litter box again.

In addition, it is CRITICAL that you use a type of litter specially designed to ATTRACT your cat to the litter box. You should go read about Dr. Elsey’s new Cat Attract litter. Click here to learn more.

When sprayed on the soiled area, No-P!

The smell of cat urine can be extremely potent and fill an entire house. We have helpful tips and products to remove odor and pet stains, and prevent future accidents!

It is not at all uncommon for cat owners to have their normally quite housebroken cat have an “accident.” This should not be a cause for concern, but if the accident is not properly cleaned, and the cat can still smell the cat urine, there is a good chance that the cat will urinate there again. Removing the stain quickly and thoroughly is of utmost importance.

At Planet Urine we understand cat and dog urine more than anyone on the market today. Even more, we understand cat and dog behaviors. Eliminating the cat urine smell is only one part of the removal process. First you have to remove the stain, and for that we recommend our UrineOut dry powder removal system.

Once you have thoroughly removed the stain with our UrineOut Powder, you will then need to make sure that the cat urine smell is also completely removed. We carry a product called No-P! Housebreaing Aid that does just that. Spraying No-P! Housebreaking Aid on a removed stain is further insurance that none of your animals will detect the former stain and be “inspired” to urinate in your home. All situations are unique, so if you have any questions about stain removal or odor removal products, please do not hesitate to call us at our toll free 24 hour hotline: 888-286-ODOR (6367).
The post Cat Urine Smells and Stains Eliminated Once and For All first appeared on Planet Urine.
